CYO/Camp Howard - Providing opportunities for area youth since 1946!

Since 1946, the Catholic Youth Organization and Camp Howard have served the youth of Western Oregon and Southwest Washington. More than 11,000 youth participate in our sports and camp programs each year. Through our programs participants learn self-worth and lifelong values.

The CYO/Camp Howard Champions of Faith Scholarship Fund is committed to providing children in need with the opportunity to experience the lifelong benefits and enjoyment of participation in sports and camp. We believe that structured sports and camp activities help children to gain self-confidence and self-esteem, develop social skills, learn sportsmanship and teamwork, set and achieve goals and learn from positive role models. It is our ongoing mission to ensure that all children, regardless of their family’s financial situation, be given this opportunity to participate in faith based organized sports and camp activities through CYO/Camp Howard.

Helping children
Each year more than ten percent of the 11,000 participants in our programs need financial assistance. Help us give that opportunity to hundreds of kids who otherwise would not be able to participate.

CYO/Camp Howard activities are based on principles that reinforce sound human and social values. We provide opportunities for fair play and cooperation. These lessons last far beyond involvement with our program.

Participants and their families take with them countless memories of their experience with us. While making great memories for kids is what we're about, adding a few memories for grandparents is pretty cool too.

Celebrate with each other the success of our dedication as coaches, parents, grandparents, community leaders and friends supporting youth activities. Your commitment helps our programs continue to serve our most valuable resource...our kids.

Where Does the Money Go?

CYO/Camp Howard is a 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are fully tax-deductible. In addition to your tax deduction you will enjoy a prefunction cocktail event exclusive to donors, a table for eight with fantastic dinner serving and, of course, an inspirational program surrounded by friends and supporters of our organization.

With the proceeds from previous two year's events we initiated several projects that would not have been possible without the support of our friends and sponsors. Some highlights:

  • Provide scholarships to an additional 200 youth during the most recent camping season.
  • Pool heater installed at the Camp Howard facility!
  • Purchase new and safer football gear for our program.
  • Modernize and upgrade our water system at Camp Howard.

Amazingly, since 1997, we have given out more than 1,080 full or partial schorlarships totalling nearly $325,000 to Oregon and Southwest Washington children to attend Camp Howard or participate in CYO sports. We hope to do even more with your continued support!
